Inspiration Picture
We recently did an event at Missouri Baptist. The person coordinating the event contacted us to make the centerpieces and to pull from a design she liked in an magazine. Here is the inspiration picture.
The colors and textures were most important to the look of the event. Birds were also being incorporated for the event, so Sisters combined the look from the picture, the birds and the budget and came up with these.......
Our version of the arrangement had the same colors and interesting textures as the inspiration without breaking the budget. The birds were added as a subtle touch.

Past, Present and Future Sisters
This is a great Sisters story! One of our dear former employees, Colleen, moved to Colorado in 2006 and started her own successful wedding flower business called Oakes Fields. SO, when another former "Sister", Christa, moved to the same area in Colorado in 2008 and started planning her own wedding, we told Christa to get in touch with Colleen. The two former "Sisters" got together and Collen did the flowers for Christa's January 2010 wedding. Here are some pictures from the wedding photographer, ironically named 2 Sisters Photography!

Christa's colors were purple and green. Colleen created lush bouquets full of texture for Christa and her bridesmaids.

And here is our future little "Sister." Amelia was present to see her Aunt Christa get married and to see her Mommy as a bridesmaid. What a doll!

Another Sisters twist to this story is that Christa's sister, Shelly, is currently an employee of Sisters Flowers in St. Louis! Christa got a job at Sisters while staying with Shelly for the summer of 2008.

Using Succulents
Using succulents is a trend that is becoming more and more popular in St. Louis. Succulents are small, star-shaped plants with plump, smooth leaves. You often see them in planters or sometimes in landscaping. They can be cut and used as a fresh green accent in bouquets and centerpieces. We love the texture that succulents can give to an arrangement. It is such a unique way to make a statement with your flowers.

Four Different Bouquets
These are some great examples of different styles bouquets can have. We designed recently these for a wedding show we did at Scott Air Force Base.

The bouquet on the bottom right is a more contemporary and sleek look. It is simple, all white callas wrapped into a clutch.
This mixed bouquet has lots of texture in each individual flower to bring interest to the whole. It has orange spray roses, ivory stock, and purple dahlias.
This is a more traditional look using Esperance roses and white mini cymbidium orchids to accent. It is very lush and romantic!
This hydrangea and rose bouquet has a very gardeny look. It differs from the "normal" bouquet in that the shades of colors are more "clumped" together to make each one stand out.
All four bouquets have their own distinct characteristics. Often, it's just personal style preference that chooses which type is best for a specific event.

Third Degree Glass Factory
This colorful reception at the Third Degree Glass Factory was this past spring. Teals and oranges were used to celebrate the bride's Indian heritage.

This shot by Gail Fleming shows the whole room after it was set with linens and lighting. The room was splashed with color.

The flowers were a bright mix of oranges including roses, gerber daisies and tulips. The centerpieces alternated high and low vases for some table variety.

Lily Grass Accents
Lily grass can be a great way to give your bouquet a little more interest and a slight contemporary feel. This bright bouquet of circus roses and flame mini callas has just a touch of looped lily grass around the edge instead of a more traditional greenery.

The loops really give the bouquet a more finished look than it would have without the grass. Lily grass can be a solid dark green like this or it can be a variegated light and dark green. Always ask about using greenery as another accent element to your bouquets.
