Four Seasons Wedding and Reception

Debbie and Marc celebrated their wedding at the Four Seasons with a terrace ceremony and a big ballroom reception.  Here are the always awesome images from LPhotographie.

Debbie carried ivory peonies with champagne and ivory roses in her bouquet.

Blush and champagne flowers for all of the girls.

The maids carried champagne roses and blush stock flower.

The bride was escorted down the aisle by her parents.

Beautiful arch view for the wedding.

The happy couple.

This large babies breath piece marked the place card table.

These babies breath "clouds" were first used to line the aisle and were then moved to the reception.

Gold vessels with blush and ivory flowers decorated the guest tables.

Some guest tables had a similar vessel with all white and ivory blooms.

Thanks to the lovely couple and their families for trusting us with their special day!  It was wonderful working with you!

Blush and Ivory Chandler Hill Wedding and Reception

Happy Anniversary this week to Claire and Elliott who were married last year at Chandler Hill.  Here are the images from Cami Wade Photography.

Claire's bouquet was a blush and ivory mix of peonies, astilbe, spray roses, ranunculus, and a touch of greenery.

The maids wore neutral shades of blush and carried ivory bouquets.

Elliott wore a smart-looking ranunculus bout finished in twine.

The wedding party.

After a bit of rain, the ceremony was held on the deck overlooking the winery.

Large arrangements of wedding flowers on wine barrels framed the vows and were used on the wooden bar for the reception afterwards.

We can't resist a photo of a hip mom carrying flowers..........

..........or a stunning Grandma!

The reception featured mixes of low, white and ivory blooms on round and long tables.

Happy one year to a fun couple!  We are so pleased we got to work with you and your families!

Blush & Ivory Are Here to Stay!

Allie and Michael were trend-setters with their wedding day color palette of blush, ivory, and gold in 2012.  Looking back at these pictures just reminds us what a timeless look this popular combination was, has become and continues to be- even for weddings into 2017!  We designed soft, romantic flowers for their autumn wedding in Colombia, MO.  Photos by Megan Thiele.

Allie's bouquet was a mix of garden roses, peonies, and dahlias in gold, ivory and blush tones.

The bridesmaids carried a clutch of all Sahara roses.

The reception was a continuation of the blush, ivory and gold tones.  Low and high centerpieces focused on very soft, romantic, garden textures.

Hanging crystals added another formal touch to the large guest table centerpieces.

Exclusive Events, Inc. added lighting, fabric draping, and hanging candles to really deck out the reception.

Josie and the team at Cosmopolitan Events were an integral part of this event and we were excited to be a part of the team of vendors.

Blush and ivory are a very romantic combination and it's no wonder they continue to be seen in bridal publications and all over social media.

Trendy Cascade Bouquets??

Often times, we hear clients refer to "old-fashioned cascade bouquets" as something outdated and not for them.  Recently, we have had an abundance of clients requesting and sending pictures of bouquets that definitely have cascade bouquet characteristics, but with a modern flair. We like to call them mock cascades.  These bouquets do have draping blooms and greenery and are not tight and round.  They have flowers that are more forward-facing as opposed to the hand-tied bouquet look.  However, they are not the old-fashioned teardrop shape and exhibit more of a natural, asymmetrical look.  These mock cascades take all the good points of the popular hand-tied and more traditional cascades and fuse them into something romantic, textural, and modern.  Here are some examples of a few mock cascades we have done just this wedding season.

This example uses the popular blush and ivory tones with natural greenery and soft blooms to create a look that is very unique and romantic.

This bridal bouquet is bright and exciting!  It has many different types of smaller flowers to create a "just picked" look straight from the garden.

The shape of this cascade is more compact than the previous examples, but is still very natural and asymmetrical.  This bouquet has peonies in the background to add to it's lush beauty.

As we speak to more and more clients, we are seeing a trend towards a more natural feel and shape to bouquets and centerpieces.  We hope it continues as we really love this entire look and all that we can create within it!

Inspiration Pictures from Pinterest- The Price is in the Details

We say over and over at our studio that we really don't know how our clients select the type, color, and style of their wedding flowers.  There are so many flowers to choose from and so many more options than there was just a decade ago.  Many of our clients use Pinterest and the internet to give them ideas of what they like and don't like, but the options really are endless.  Once a client has settled on a picture or pictures that they are really drawn to, we do our best to pull off the same look and feel within the season and price range we are given.  Here is a picture of a bouquet that we recognize from some of our recent consultations:

This is a very beautiful example of the popular blush pink and ivory color scheme that a lot of our brides seem drawn to.  It is soft and lush and has just a hint of color.  The blooms you see are white peonies, blush pink astilbe, and white anemones with black centers.  These flowers work well together in this arrangement and are romantic and distinctive.

If you are not a floral designer by trade, you wouldn't know that all the blooms pictured have select seasons of availability and are very popular, making them high-end choices for a garden bouquet.  Because this bouquet's background and base is all high-priced peonies, and the "detail" flowers that give the arrangement interest are medium to high priced,  this bouquet can easily be on the upper range or exceed many budgets.  Our rule at our studio is the bride should get what they want, regardless of price.  We can always make suggestions on cost savings elsewhere if the inspiration picture is exactly what the client wants.  However, if you are simply drawn to this photo or others like it, here are examples of other inspirations of a similar style that are more cost effective:

The first two photos are of the same bouquet.  In this design, peonies and anemones are still used, but the bouquet is backed with white hydrangeas to lessen the number of peonies needed.  It is still a very lush bouquet and the blush pink could be added with a filler flower or by changing the shade of the roses pictured.  The third image is a very similar bouquet but without anemones.  If they are not a deal-breaker for you, removing those blooms and adding hydrangea in the background can be a significant cost savings.  We just did a consultation with a bride that brought us the Pinterest picture with all the high-end elements.  Since she had a budget range that wouldn't quite cover the inspiration picture, we made similar suggestions to save her almost 30% on her bouquet.  Although flower prices fluctuate in different markets and different seasons, just a few substitutions for our bride meant that she could still have the look and feel that she wanted without breaking her bank.  In a lot of cases, the price of an arrangement really boils down to the flower details- bloom varieties, demand within a season, and the quantity needed to achieve a look.  Flexibility is key when working within a budget AND a great inspiration picture.
