Winter Wedding at Graham Chapel and Sunset Country Club

Amy and Zach's winter wedding was a beautiful day that we were thrilled to be a part of.  They enjoyed an evening ceremony at Graham Chapel with a reception to follow at Sunset Country Club.  Images by Ashley Fisher Photography.

The colors of the day were crisp winter white tones with gold and navy accents.  Amy's bouquet was a soft mix of ivory blooms with a slight drape, provided by some lovely phalenopsis orchids.

The maids wore gold dresses and carried a clutch of white and ivory hydrangea and spray roses.

Zach had an orchid bout.to match Amy's bouquet.

There were lots of details at Graham Chapel.  Here is a long and flowing piece that we made for the top of the organ- as a backdrop for the ceremony.

Swags of greenery garland lined the entire aisle for Amy's entrance.

Both moms opted for a sweet clutch of flowers to carry as an update to the traditional corsage.

The reception theme was "A mid-winter's night dream".  Amy wanted there to be lots of lights and flowers.  We added the tree elements and moss to help bring the look together with the theme.

The organ piece at Graham Chapel was used after the ceremony on the head table.

Thanks to the bride and groom and their families for letting us be a part of their day!

Long Guest Tables- What you need to know regarding flowers & table decor--

One of the current trends that we have been seeing more and more is long tables at receptions and parties.  The tradition of having a long wedding head table has even changed to a rectangular king's table with wedding party sitting all the way around instead of only on one side.  This idea has trickled over into the whole reception and we are now seeing room layouts and celebrations with 8ft. to 16ft.+ tables, guests seated at all sides.

The look of the overall room is stunning with the long tables lined up and table decor trailing down the center.  This trend is fun to work with and design for, but there are a few things to consider when it comes to the flowers and table decor.

We have seen lots of inspiration pictures of long flower garlands lining the middle of a rectangular table, with the garland spilling over the ends.  Here are some images (courtesy of LPhotographie) of a table with a similar look that we did just this past season:

To us, this visual is one of the main draws to doing the longs.  This is such a romantic and lush look and when you envision this in your whole reception, it's breathtaking.  The cost can sometimes also take your breath away if you don't know what to expect.

In the case of a round, 72" guest table, the decor can be as traditional as a mix of gorgeous seasonal blooms in a low or tall design.  This cost will vary according to flowers and choice of style, but more often than not, a large single arrangement or collection of medium arrangements will give a full showing at the center of the table.  (Image by LPhotographie)

In the case of long tables, oftentimes two 8 foot tables are connected to give an even longer profile.  Sometimes, they are also doubled up in width to give more room for the guests sitting there.  If the table is 16 feet long, the real estate that needs to be covered to give the same fullness as mentioned on the round tables is exceedingly more.  If you want garlands down the center, 16 feet won't drape over the edges, so 20-22 feet per table would be suggested.  Basic greenery garlands that are pre-made with 2-3 types of greenery can range in price from $12-18 per foot in our market.  Adding flowers to the greenery will start in the neighborhood of $15 per foot (additional) and increase from there depending on flower choice and fullness.  Of course, different shops have different price ranges, so check with them.  Solid flower garlands are also popular on social media, but are much more expensive than those with greenery included as a large number of blooms are needed to construct them.

If garlands aren't really what you envisioned for your long tables, another popular look is several small arrangements and candles aligned down the middle.  The coverage of these table scapes is usually pretty full with one arrangement running into the next accented by candles.  If you budget one small arrangment for every foot, then you would need 16 vases of flowers plus candles for each table.  As always, the range of prices will vary with flowers choices and size ( approx. $40-100+ each), but keep in mind that whatever elements are being incorporated will need to be purchased in multiples to achieve that look.

There are lots of variations as well.  Some choose to sit guests on each end of the longs.  Having a place setting at each end of the table decreases the length of decorations needed as well as the tendency to want any garlands draping down the sides of the table.  Some also mix round tables and long tables in one room to have the best of both worlds.  Whatever your vision may be, think past the table shape and explore how best to showcase your table scape!

Casual and Cute Summer Wedding!

Here are some great pictures submitted by the Mother of the Bride of the wedding of Janelle and Phil. They were married on June 14th at Mudds Grove. Casual and fun was the style for this cute couple!

The bride and her maids.

The Bridesmaids carried bouquets of daisies, lisianthus, green kermit poms, and yellow and purple filler.

The bride chose white daisies, green kermit poms, and yellow filler arranged in a cascade style bouquet.

The Bride and Groom got married under the gazebo in the garden.

We decorated the gazebo with a garland of daisies and yellow ribbon. Two tall arrangements in silver buckets framed the couple.

The guys wore simple, white daisy boutonnieres to complement the ladies' flowers.

Our best wishes to the married couple! It was a pleasure helping you with your special day!

Our Canopy/Chuppah and all it's uses...

Sisters Flowers has their own canopy/Chuppah to rent for your wedding! It is a beautiful 7 foot cedar structure that can be used with the wood exposed for an "earthy" casual ceremony, or with our white or ivory chiffon to cover the frame for a more formal look. The canopy/Chuppah can be decorated and used in many different ways. Take a look at how some of our clients have incorporated it into their weddings....

This ceremony at the Piper Palm House featured the bride and groom under the chiffon-covered canopy with a garland of greenery and red roses across the top.

The canopy was used at this ceremony to dress up the ballroom and bring focus to the "altar". The chiffon was left to looser to billow and give a romantic feel. Two large side arrangements of flowers tied in the wedding colors.

This is an example of the canopy with tulle covering to allow the wood to show through. The arrangements on the canopy and the two on the side columns complimented each other.

Custom fabric can also be purchased to accent the structure with a certain color.

For a casual or semi-outdoor wedding, consider leaving the wood exposed and decorating it with willow branches and ivy as this couple did for their wedding at the St. Louis Artists' Guild.

This Chuppah had a little bit of everything. The draping flowers across the top and on the legs showed splashes of color against the custom orange fabric.

This look was romantic with the fabric-draped Chuppah and ivy trailing down the sides.

The structure has a footprint of about 6ft. x 7ft., so it's the perfect size for all ceremonies.

Another option is to cover only the top of the Chuppah, leaving the legs exposed or accented by hanging greenery.

This Chuppah design was another variation of using the topper white using flower garlands to brighten up the exposed legs.

Our canopy has also been used and decorated for Indian ceremonies.

This canopy was utilized in a unique way. Instead of using it for the ceremony, this couple used it as a romantic flower garden surrounding their sweetheart table. The structure was decorated with all white flowers and curly willow to bring a "garden get-away" to the bride and groom inside the ballroom reception.

Any combination of these looks is possible and can be customized for your event. When calling or meeting with us, please mention that you would like to use our canopy or Chuppah as availability is limited.

A Marriage of Cultures

Sarah and Vyas had a beautiful wedding this past April. They incorporated both of their backgrounds in special ways throughout their day.

(All photos courtesy of Kelley Photo Design.)

At the ceremony, Sarah and Vyas wore traditional Indian garments. They also utilized our Mandap to tie in Vyas' heritage.

The bridesmaids' dresses and yellow calla lily bouquets reflected the colorful ceremony.

Afterwards, the bride changed into her bridal gown and the groom put on his tuxedo. Sarah carried all large calla lilies with looped lily grass accents.

Their reception was held at the very hip event space, Lumen. Their deep red decor was carried from the ceremony into the reception with the use of red roses and tulips.

Congratulations to the fun couple on their very special day!
