Valentine's Day Engagement Party

Here are a few snapshots from a engagement party that we helped out with this past Saturday at the family's home. Love was in the air and Valentine's Day was the theme!

The candy table and the sweets table were decorated in all pinks, reds, and whites.

The cocktail tables were decorated with small cube vases of red and pink roses and spray roses.

The cocktail/lounge area was set up in a tent. The furniture and lighting were provided by Exclusive Events.

Special thanks to Shayna Laiderman from St. Louis Wedding Consultants for sharing these pictures and for coordinating such a sweet event!!

Classic White and Ivory

This traditional and classic white and ivory wedding was for Kimberly and Steven. Here are some amazing shots by Lace.

Kim's bouquet was an all white and ivory mix that included hydrangea, spray roses, freesia, lisianthus, gardenias, waxflower, and pearled stephanotis. She picked a burgundy criss-cross ribbon to incorporate her accent color.

The bride loved texture so we used a several kinds of greenery to give the whole bouquet more detail and interest.

Batter up!
The centerpieces at the reception were white hydrangea, ivory roses, and ivory waxflower in cube vases.

The burgundy table runners added a little extra color pop in the room.

Special thanks to Christy Ricker of All Dressed in White for helping coordinate such a pretty event!!
As always, best wishes to the bride and groom!

Info About Centerpiece and Bouquet Trials

Occasionally, when we meet with a client/s, they will ask us about the possibility of seeing their bouquet or centerpiece before the big day. Sisters Flowers does offer both bouquet and centerpieces trials for our booked clients. As a courtesy, we only charge half price for our brides to see their arrangements put together, and the flowers are the bride's to keep.

We recommend doing a bouquet trial at your final consultation so that any changes that need to be made for your flower order can be done at that time. We also suggest doing a centerpiece trial at your tasting or, if possible, at your venue so that you can see the final look. We require at least a week's notice so that we can get the correct flowers and colors ordered.

Keep in mind, if you are using any seasonal flowers for your wedding, they may not be available to see at a trial, especially if the trial is more than a couple of months before the actual wedding date.

Sisters is confident in our style and design, but we do know the value of centerpiece and bouquet trials. For some clients, seeing their flowers before the wedding spoils the surprise for the actual day. For others, having an idea of what they can expect eases their minds and allows them to to enjoy themselves at their wedding.

An Interesting Use of Red & Green

Here are some snapshots that we took of some pretty red and green bouquets. This was a January wedding and the use of the ivory with the red and green gives the whole arrangement a very winter-y feel.

The bridal bouquet was a cascade style, with green roses and button mums, red berries and spray roses, bright green hydrangea, and white stargazer lilies.

The bridesmaids carried a round, hand-tied bouquet with ivory roses, bright green hydrangea, red spray roses, and ivory waxflower.

The shade of the bright green the bright red really gives this color combo a unique look and is not what most people would think of as the typical "red and green" holiday scheme for winter. We loved how vivid it looked!!

Vintage Inspired Wedding

Here are some gorgeous shots of a wedding we did late last year. Mark and Shari (the bride and groom) had a vintage inspired look that they wanted to achieve. Below is a photo from the Spring/Summer 2008 issue of St. Louis Bride Magazine that was the starting point for the floral design.

This was also the inspiration picture for the bridal bouquet.

This was the bouquet we did for Shari that incorporated the hydrangea and hanging phaleonopsis orchids in her wedding colors.

The bridesmaids carried a classic all white hydrangea bouquet.

The flower girls also carried white flowers.........

........white spray rose kissing balls.

The ceremony and reception were both held at the Ritz Carlton in Clayton. We provided the canopy and flowers for the ceremony room.

Here comes the bride.....

Shari's vintage-looking gown and veil were beautiful.

Up close shots of the canopy show how the structure frames the bride and groom and gives the ballroom a focal point.

The garland dripping in white hydrangeas and roses was removed from the canopy after the ceremony and placed on the head table to be re-used!

The reception was conveniently held in the ballroom next to the ceremony room.

The same vintage inspired flowers were used throughout the reception for the centerpieces.

Each guest table had a tall, clear cylinder vase with a large, garden-y arrangement of all white hydrangeas, roses, and orchids with curly willow accents.

Special thanks to Lace for all the beautiful photos featured!

All the best to the bride and groom who were a joy to work with!!

Apples and Place cards

This is a great idea for dressing up a place card table. Lisa, the bride, came to us with a picture of a really awesome arrangement that included apples for her September wedding. We used the picture as inspiration and modified it to fit her style and needs. Here are a couple of shots that Christa, one of the Sisters team, took during set-up.

Here is what the guests saw as they came into the reception room.

Each cylinder vase was filled with apples and mixed red flowers.

We used gerber daisies, alstromeria, berries, and LOTS of curly willow.

Just a an idea for a great way to make an impression on your guests with the colors and flowers of your wedding.
